Introduction

Henry Fielding (22 April 1707 – 8 October 1754) was an English novelist, writer, and dramatist known for earthy humour and satire, as well as being the chief magistrate in London and one of the founders of London's first police force, the Bow Street Runners. His best known work is The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling (1749)
