As a playwright Polly was selected for the Royal Court Theatre's writers' programme 2014. Her final play, ''Aspidistra Resistance'', won the SLT New Writing Award mounted as part of the return to the Old Fire Station building in 2018, and was staged posthumously.

Introduction

Polly Churchill (d. 27 June 2018) was a playwright and children’s writer, who worked on much loved CBeebies shows such as Teacup Travels for CBeebies (on which she was head writer) Topsy And Tim, Thomas & Friends and many others. As a playwright Polly was selected for the Royal Court Theatre's writers' programme 2014. She also wrote three radio plays for BBC Radio 4 and 5, and filmed her short film Arms of an Angel, which was selected by the BBC Short Film Festival. Her final play Aspidistra Resistance won the SLT New Writing Award mounted as part of the return to the Old Fire Station building in 2018, and was staged posthumously.
