by Mike Bartlett

Directed by Siobhan Campbell

Performances: Tue 17th – Sat 21st September 2013, Prompt Corner

Introduction

What happens to a relationship when it becomes impossible to talk? What happens when the system does not allow us to speak? Exploring the destructive power of silence, we are presented with two stories with diverging timelines. We are introduced to James, a ‘conshie’ during WW2 and his wife Lucy. We also meet Mark and Amanda, both currently serving in the armed forces. The result is a narrative in which two different generations of characters seek a dubious and at times dangerous consolation in ‘not talking.’
