Introduction

Sebastian Hunter, a highly successful playwright is confronted witha grandmother and wife, a prostitute, bellerina and a clown, all of which have appeared as characters in his plays. Some resent having aspects of their lives recreated in hos plays; others are delighted. the unravelling of the plays is at times moving, comic and menacing.
