Introduction
Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet (9 May 1860 - 19 June 1937) was a dramatist and novelist, best known as the creator of Peter Pan, the boy who refused to grow up.
Before his death, Barrie gave the rights to the Peter Pan works to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. An amendment to the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 gave Great Ormond Street Hospital the unique right to royalties from stage performances of Peter Pan (and any adaptation of the play) in perpetuity.
