Introduction
The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui is a satire of Hitler’s rise to power. It’s a cautionary tale that warns against populist politics and corruption of power. Set in 1930s Chicago, the story follows Arturo Ui and his gangsters as they seize control of the vegetable trade. Enabled by the Cauliflower Trust and the once-honourable Dogsborough, we see how Ui’s rise to power was resistible and preventable.
