Paul Hodson
Introduction
Paul Hodson has written and directed for theatre for over twenty five years, as well as writing over a hundred episodes of television drama.
Paul won a Fringe First at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival for MEETING JOE STRUMMER , which he also directed. Over the years Paul has adapted a number of books for the stage, including Nick Hornby’s FEVER PITCH, which toured for 6 years and Bill Bryson’s books THE LOST CONTINENT, NOTES FROM A SMALL ISLAND and DOWN UNDER. In 2006 Paul adapted and directed HOW STEEPLE SINDERBY WANDERERS WON THE FA CUP for New Perspectives Theatre Company. Other original plays include BRIGHTON ‘TIL I DIE, to celebrate the centenary of Brighton and Hove Albion, and PRETTY VACANT about punk rock survivors.
Paul has two films DRIFTWOOD and SOUTH OF THE BORDER in development. He has a TV drama series SHAKESPEARE ROAD in development with Greenpoint Films. He was the lead writer on the first four series of DREAM TEAM for Sky One, and has also written for IS HARRY ON THE BOAT?, BBC1’s DOCTORS and GOAL!, his award winning series for BBC World.
Paul also wrote, produced and directed twenty episodes of a comedy series UP THE CHIMNEYS for Talk Sport radio. He is the co-author of BUILD A BONFIRE, the story of how football fans saved Brighton and Hove Albion.
Projects in development include a stage adaptation of Jo Wilding’s astonishing book, DON’T SHOOT THE CLOWNS, recounting her trips to work with children in Iraq during the war and in the current occupation.
