Reminiscences and Anecdotes

To provide the constant sound of a creaking sailing ship at sea John Thomas (better known to u members as Sam) re-recorded a loop of ship effect in the bar. A 10 foot loop of quater inch recording tape went across the tape deck then out into the bar, round the stem of a microphone stand and back, the output was recorded into another quater inch tape on a second deck. On minidisc this effect could be repeated indefinitely just by recording once and setting repeat on the player.

As the dates for this show were very near the run of the next Bell Theatre show lighting designer, Roger taylor was llowed to hire in the rig for this show. He used mainly 1KW Rank Strand Pattern 223s which we were rarely use, even now, These provided a very bright setting for the opening of the hold on arrival in Australia.
