Introduction

The Sherlock Holmes classic told in a way few have seen before. Clowning, physical comedy, stupid puns, 'disguises' and general silliness abound in this production.

Cast

  • Adam Crook - Sir Charles Baskerville, Dr Mortimer, Sir Henry Baskerville, Cabbie, Geoff Yokel, Jeff Yokel and Wise Yokel (three subtly different yokels)
  • Caroline Doyle - Sherlock Holmes, Guard, Ghastly Gladys, Bernard Yokel, Cecile, Stapleton, Barrymore, Mrs Barrymore and Hermit
  • Tom Watts - Dr John Watson and Hansom

Reviews

This totally manic and laugh out loud production of Hound of the Baskervilles is an utter joyous night out. It's utterly batsh*t but sooo much fun. I loved it. Congratulations to the brilliant cast, director and team for pulling off something this slick. Special mention to backstage crew and Noah the operator who must be run ragged by the time the (metaphoric) curtain comes down at the end of the show. Applause, applause, applause. Go see it ... you won't be disappointed. And if you don't, you will be!

Great fun filled first night for Hound. I could pick out some lovely characters that pop up along the way but that would be spoilers, so I won’t. Get yourselves along to see for yourselves.

Give yourself a treat and go and see this show asap! It is wonderfully funny, very silly - while also being very clever with very quick wordplay – and hugely entertaining!

Caroline Doyle as Sherlock Holmes, Tom Watts as the faithful Watson and Adam Crook as Sir Henry Baskerville, give their all – and then some! Their performances defy expectations, logic, speed and costumes to create a madcap adventure for all. The fourth wall is broken regularly, which only adds to the fun.

I rarely laugh aloud at comedy shows, however funny, as I usually prefer to enjoy verbal humour, and not slapstick. However, this show has everything, and I couldn’t help myself but laugh aloud frequently. The comic timing throughout is immaculate, with the actors’ reactions a joy to behold. An unexpected prop mishap did nothing to slow things down as the actors improvised their way out of it with great glee! Did I mention that 18 roles are played by 3 actors, with Caroline taking 9, Adam with 7 while Tom had 2 roles, which still meant that he didn’t leave the stage for any length of time. A series of stylized projections sets the scenes beautifully and moved as fast as the actors at times.

The rapport between the actors was a joy to behold, as well as their wonderful chemistry. They are obviously having great fun, so the audience can do nothing but join them and have a wonderfully entertaining evening!

I give this a 5 star review!

Well, that was fab! Huge congratulations to everyone involved in this incarnation of Hound. Though carried by the three members onstage it was most certainly enabled by the gorgeous people backstage. What an amazing madcap evening out. Go do it!

Totally agree! This was a great evening’s entertainment and such a relief from what’s going on in the real world. Onstage and backstage, be really proud of yourselves!

There’s no better way to describe ‘Hounds’ then bonkers. Not just because it’s hilariously funny, but because of the sheer amount of work and dedication it took in creating such a spectacle, and that goes into putting up a show of this calibre with every performance. The acting, the directing, all the characters and costume changes, the backstage magic, the joy. Impressive. Shame it’s on for just a week and a half! Don’t miss it
