Introduction

An irresistibly funny and tender play about big dreams and small changes. Amid the dreaming, the dramas and the dirty dishes, something has to give. But will it be Kath or the kitchen sink?

Things aren't going to plan for one family in Withernsea, Yorkshire. Pieces are falling off Martin's milk float as quickly as he's losing customers and something's up with Kath's kitchen sink. Billy is pinning his hopes of a place at art college on a revealing portrait of Dolly Parton, whilst Sophie's dreams of becoming a ju-jitsu teacher might be disappearing down the plughole.

Reviews

Bob Callender: Kitchen Sink - I wouldn’t normally be enthused about low key, domestic, well, “kitchen sink” type dramas, but this one is really good. Top talent throughout, creating memorable characters and delivering some great lines and proper laughs. Do go see.

Caroline Durant: SLT, you've done it again! What a brilliant production The Kitchen Sink is! It's full of laughs but also weaves in some hard-hitting issues with a light touch. The actors are all well suited to their parts, especially the mother, the "feisty" daughter (😉) and, above all, the son, whose performance was simply a joy to watch. David Chappell, you have produced a true delight, and I hope it gets the full houses it deserves.

Helen Jones: Thoroughly enjoyed last night's show and the wonderfully convincing, naturalistic performances of the entire cast - a real ensemble piece Brilliant set and clever sound desaign too - all highly entertaining

Hayley Thomas: I'll second that! Also big shout out to the production team off stage...great set, with running/spurting water and practical electrics, then there was that painting!!! 👏👏👏🎭

David Carr: What a lovely show this evening! Well done to all the Kitchen Sinkers, definitely no sinking feeling with this production. Just lovely all round! Thank you.

Jo Boniface: The Kitchen Sink is brilliant! Very very funny. As the nights are suddenly darker this comedy is exactly what you need. Seriously #BEAD congrats to David Chappelland cast and crew! #feisty

Ben Farron: Fantastic job by the Kitchen Sink gang tonight we absolutely loved it! Truly the feistiest show I’ve seen! Make sure you get tickets, avoid missing out!!

Caroline Beckett: Congratulations to David Chappell and his Kitchen Sink cast and crew - I really enjoyed watching tonight's dress rehearsal of this funny and bittersweet play. Strong and at times quirky performances with (deliberately) awkward and often moving moments, this was a very entertaining evening (with an unexpected ending!) so please do give this season opener the support it deserves!
