Introduction
Thre people meet in a station waiting room one midnight in midwinter. Tommy, a cockney building worker, is ties to a garrulous wife and three seemingly impossible children. Veronica, whose past includes two hotels and two husbands, now lives witha sister who disapproves of her life style. Cedric, a cynical batchelor with no ties, is a slave to his own belief that all life is revolting.
The three reveal something about themselves, then Tommy suggests they all go to the South of France. But can such an ill-assorted group do this and will a holiday together alter their individual outlooks?
