Introduction
The action of the play takes place over a few days in late summer towards the end of the 19th century. It is set in Dr Wagnel's garden above the harbour and fjord.
Act 1, Scene 1 Morning, Scene 2 Evening - a few days later, Scene 3 Early evening - a few days later.
Act 2, Scene 1 Morning - the next day, Scene 2 Early evening - the same day.
